Rt. Hon. Datuk Seri Hj. Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam

Kampung Buku Malaysia Melaka was founded by the Rt. Hon. Datuk Seri Hj. Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, Chief Minister of Melaka. Currently, he is the Patron of our book village and is actively involved in giving valuable ideas and feedback. Occasionally, he drops in for impromptu visits when he jogs within the grounds of the Melaka Botanical Garden. Such visits give him the opportunity to monitor the progress of Kampung Buku and also chat with the visitors who are there.

Datuk Seri Hj Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam has been Chief Minister of Melaka since 8^th December 1999 and under this leadership and administration the State of Melaka has progressed by leaps and bounds in all crucial areas of development. Many famous landmarks and tourism products were developed under his administration and these include the widely acclaimed Melaka River Cruise, Melaka Botanical Garden, Melaka Monorail and Taming Sari Revolving Tower. During his tenure, the new precinct of Hang Tuah Jaya was also established and its 36,000 acres include the administrative hub of Melaka with smart city features, the Batu Berendam International Airport, the satellite township of MITC and comprehensive plans for sustainable development over a 10 year period.

There are many books and biographies written about Datuk Seri Hj Mohd Ali and all these books are available at Anjung Karyawan Melaka. The latest book “From Bukit Katil to Seri Bendahara (1999-2009)” commemorates his 10^th anniversary in office and is published by the Resource Centre, Chief Minister’s Office.
